Global Economic Data — Free Access to 440+ Indicators
Last updated: May 2026Comprehensive Country Statistics
Statistics of the World aggregates economic, demographic, health, education, and environmental data for 218 countries from the world's most authoritative sources: the IMF World Economic Outlook, World Bank World Development Indicators, WHO Global Health Observatory, FRED (Federal Reserve Economic Data), and United Nations. Our database covers 443+ indicators with historical data going back to 1960 for many series.
Every data point is sourced directly from official international organizations — we do not estimate, interpolate, or generate data. When the IMF publishes new GDP projections or the World Bank updates its development indicators, our database reflects those changes within days. All data is free to access, free to use with attribution, and available through our public API.
How to Use This Platform
Start by selecting a country to see its full economic profile — GDP, population, inflation, unemployment, government debt, life expectancy, and hundreds more indicators with interactive charts and historical trends. Use the rankings pages to compare countries on any indicator: which country has the highest GDP, the lowest unemployment, or the most CO₂ emissions per capita.

The Global Economy in 2026
The world economy in 2026 is worth over $110 trillion in nominal GDP. The United States remains the largest economy at $29+ trillion, followed by China ($19+ trillion) and Germany. In purchasing power parity terms, China's economy is substantially larger than America's, and India ranks third — ahead of Japan. The G7 accounts for roughly 43% of global GDP, while BRICS represents about 35%.
Global inflation has moderated from the 2022-2023 peaks but remains above target in many countries. Central banks including the Federal Reserve, ECB, and Bank of England have raised interest rates to multi-decade highs. Unemployment varies enormously — from under 2% in East Asian economies to over 30% in South Africa. Government debt has risen to historically high levels following pandemic-era stimulus spending.
Key Economic Trends
Several structural trends are reshaping the global economy: the US-China technology rivalry, supply chain diversification (nearshoring to Mexico, Vietnam, and India), the energy transition toward renewables, demographic divergence between aging advanced economies and young emerging markets, and the rise of artificial intelligence as a productivity driver.
The richest countries (GDP per capita above $50,000) are concentrated in North America, Western Europe, and East Asia. The poorest are predominantly in sub-Saharan Africa, where rapid population growth outpaces economic development. Income inequality remains one of the defining challenges — both between and within countries. For deeper analysis, explore our methodology page.
